What To Bring to a Sleepover or Slumber Party

December 29, 2022 5 min read

If you ask us, slumber parties are THE best. Sure, get-togethers at the local bar are a blast, and there’s no denying our love for a good #BarCrawl, but when it comes to having fun with the besties, a slumber party simply can’t be beat.

That said, if it’s been ages since your last sleepover, you might be feeling a little lost on what to bring. Don’t worry: FUNBOY has you covered.

In this post, we’re diving into the exciting world of slumber parties to uncover all the goods you should consider bringing. From toiletries and beauty items to games and more — here’s what you should take with you to the sleepover:

A Gift for the Host

Before you pack your own necessities, consider packing a little gift for the hosting friend. A basket of muffins, a bottle of wine, a box of chocolates, or even a SHOTSKI are a few ideas. This might be an unconventional item on your sleepover checklist, but what a warm and wonderful gesture it would be.

Toiletries

While you can share some of your bestie's toiletries, you’ll need your own deodorant, toothbrush, and lip balm. It’s also a good idea to take along your own shampoo, face wash, and hairbrush if you plan on showering. That’s especially important if you plan on swimming or sledding, or some other outdoor activity.

Toss these items in an easy-to-carry bag. If you don’t have one, check out the adorably chic totes we have. These iridescent bags are super high quality. Plus, they are big enough to fit all the essentials — and even your cozy slippers.

Beauty Items

Slumber parties are all about staying up till sunrise, so looking sleepy AF the next day is almost inevitable — unless, of course, you packed your favorite beauty items.

It’s understandable to feel too tired and even a bit lazy to take your makeup off before hitting the hay, especially after a super fun slumber party. Pack some makeup-removing wipes to make the job a breeze. Freshen up your face the next day with a few makeup products like a matte cream (with SPF, naturally), mascara, and lipstick — easy to pack and quick to use.

Pro Tip: Since we won’t be skipping over our nighttime skincare routine, why not bring a few sheet masks to pamper yourself and your friends? Grab a handful from the local grocery store and pass them out at the sleepover. P.s. this is a great photo opp! You’re welcome.

Extra Jammies, Undies, and Socks

A sleepover can often have unexpected and exciting activities. Imagine a fun impromptu water fight! Or perhaps a late-night swim? With this in mind, isn’t it a good idea to pack extra jammies, socks, and undies? Yeah, we thought so.

Depending on the weather, do pack some extra items for layering up. A hoodie, gloves, and a cap will keep you comfy and cozy. Or, if the weather is super warm, bring an extra swimsuit or two (and maybe a towel).

Pro Tip: If the party makes its way to the pool, don’t get stuck without your favorite Blue Chaise Lounger or FUNBOY x Malibu Barbie Golf Cart Pool Float.

Phone Charger

You might forget about your smartphone while spending quality time with your friends, but it's still a necessary item to stay connected with your family. Plus, you also need your phone for the endless selfies you’ll take to capture all the exciting and crazy moments for Instagram.

Don’t forget your phone charger, as the gadget will be useless once the battery runs out. You might not find a compatible charger at your friend’s place. So, it’s best to pack your own.

Sleeping Bag

Unless you prefer catching Zzzs on the rock-hard floor (which, ouch), we highly recommend packing some cozy blankets and a sleeping bag.

Sending your little one off to their first slumber party? Let them go in style with an unbelievably cool FUNBOY Sleepover Bed! Whether you’ve got a pint-sized pilot on your hands or a child with a need for speed — we’ve got just the bed for you! Powered by retro-chic styles (Pink Convertible or Airplane) with modern technology (soft flocked material), sleeping has never been so dream-worthy.

Pro Tip:Don’t forget to pack the Inflate Anywhere Foot Pump for easy inflating and deflating.

A Stash of Midnight Snacks

Can’t imagine a fun sleepover without some yummy snacks? Yeah, we can’t, either. Pack your own for those midnight munchies. Cookies, chocolate bars, or even some salty crisps are easy to pack and undeniably yummy to devour.

Prefer something a bit more healthy? Consider these wholesome snacks:

  • Nuts
  • Seeds
  • Power bars
  • Trail mix
  • Fresh fruit
  • Dark chocolate

Extra Cash

It never hurts to have a little dough on hand. $10 to $20 is really all you need. This way, you’re prepared for any last-minute outings or to chip in for some ooey-gooey pizza from the local pizzeria. Keep your cash tucked away nicely in your wallet or back pocket, so you don’t lose it.

Emergency Numbers

While you likely have all of your important contacts on your phone, it’s a good idea to put special emergency numbers on a piece of paper. This way, it’ll be easier for your friends to reach your family members in case of a sudden emergency.

Change of Clothes

Last but not least, you’ll definitely need to pack some fresh clothes to wear the next day. Pick out a cool shirt or a cozy hoodie and a pair of comfy shorts to throw on in the AM when you wake up. Don’t forget clean socks and undies, too!

Extra Stuff forExtraFun

Now that we’ve covered all the essentials, let’s discuss a few extra items to level up the fun:

Snow Sled

If the stars align and the slumber party lands on a #SnowDay, you definitely don’t want to be without your favorite sled. We know what you’re thinking, “sleds are way too bulky to pack,” and trust us — we know.

That’s why we created an incredible line of luxe ~inflatable~ sleds! Now you can bring your favorite sled with you wherever you go. Simply inflate it with our Electric Inflatable Air Pump, and you’ve got to go ahead to sled.

Plus, with so many fun options, there are many ways to enjoy the snow. From the Metallic Champagne Snowmobile to the Striped Toboggan Sled and Nordic Snow Sleigh — we have a sled for everyone.

Games

Take along a pack of cards or a fun board game to enjoy with your buddies. Challenge your friends with a 1,000-piece puzzle or even Scrabble (btw, who doesn’t love Scrabble?).

Some other awesome ideas include:

  • Pictionary
  • Charades
  • Monopoly
  • Apples to Apples
  • Taboo
  • Cards Against Humanity

Pro Tip: If you happen to have a portable karaoke machine at home — bring it! Nothing is more iconic than dancing with your pals and belting Britney Spears’s lyrics with your tribe at a slumber party.

The Final Word

And there you have it — everything you need to bring to a sleepover and more. From toiletries and beauty items to games and munchies, you won’t want to be without these essentials. And if it happens to snow, don’t go without your favorite sled. Whether you want to ride down the slopes solo or prefer to cruise with a buddy, we have something that you’re sure to love.
